United Way of the DuPage Area is proud to annouce that across the entire United Way of Metropolitan Chicago system, the internal employee giving campaign achieved 100% participation. Campaign week began September 21 and United Way employee donations raised more than $90,000. The average staff donation was $750 and more than half of United Way employees gave a leadership gift.
“I am so proud of our staff for digging deep, even in these challenging times, to support United Way,” said Laura Thrall, CEO of United Way of Metropolitan Chicago. “Achieving 100% participation and surpassing our fundraising goal of $75,000 speaks volumes about the passion and dedication of our staff. We have set the bar high and I am confident that others will follow our lead. If all the Chicago area campaigns had 100% participation, United Way would raise more than $110 million this year.”
During the campaign week, United Way employees celebrated through various events. The senior staff kicked-off the activities with United Way Idol, a karaoke singing contest in which staff served as judges. Employees donated money to cast their vote and see the senior staff perform. Throughout the week employees also worked in groups to offer up themed morning and afternoon food carts including chips and guacamole, homemade fruit smoothies, raffle prizes and more.
