North Suburban United Way and

volunteer together for
A Day of Caring – July 21, 2009
NORTH SUBURBAN UNITED WAY thanks Maurice Sporting Goods who was generous enough to allow employees to give their time and help out again this year by painting the entire first floor and hallways at Glenkirk’s Ronald House. The employees that gave their time to this Day of Caring from Maurice Sporting Goods included: Adriana Aguilar, Maricela Bricio, Francisco Carreno, Sara Carreno, Luis A Casillas, Ortencia Casillas, Maria I Castro, Pedro Cazares, Ma E Hernandez, Fred Josellis, Ronald C Likosar, Mejia Lucrecia, Rosa Lugo, Bill Mellin, Alfredo Rodriguez, Francisco Salgado, Beatriz Samano, Felipe Samano, and Gloria A Tiderman. Other volunteers included North Suburban United Way staff Debbie Weyers along with Augustana College students Brianne and Kelsey.
Glenkirk is an agency with various programs supported by North Suburban United Way’s ongoing campaign efforts. They get much needed assistance from companies such as Maurice Sporting Goods who asked United Way to coordinate A Day of Caring. Glenkirk’s Ronald House has 7 women with varying disabilities. This is their permanent home and they have lived there for roughly 10 years. When the ladies are home there is Glenkirk staff in the house to assist them in their day-to-day needs. While Glenkirk does have a maintenance department that helps maintain the facilities, they still count on volunteer groups like United Way to come in and help with painting and landscaping. United Way groups have come in for years to do these types of projects.
North Suburban United Way serves the communities of Bannockburn, Deerfield, Glenview, Golf, Northbrook, and Riverwoods. We support health and human service programs provided by 35 locally affiliated agencies that serve individuals and families who live and work here. By identifying critical health and human services, working with community leaders and experts to prioritize needs and then funding and coordinating human care efforts to address those needs, measureable results are achieved, improving people’s lives and making our community a better place to live and work.

A great example of how we LIVE UNITED.
