Scott Anderson, Director of Finance and General Services at the Village of Buffalo Grove, has been named the February LIVE UNITED Volunteer of the Month because of his dedication and commitment to his community.
All around us there are great people who are working to make a difference in their community. These individuals volunteer countless hours with no expectation of recognition for the efforts they give. Yet these individuals deserve our respect and a thank you for what they do.
Northwest Suburban United Way is recognizing these volunteers one month at a time with the LIVE UNITED Volunteer of the Month Award. LIVE UNITED means that an individual gives, advocates and volunteers in the community, they are taking an active role in creating a positive change in their community.
Anderson not only helps to coordinate the Village of Buffalo Grove’s Annual Campaign but he is also an active United Way volunteer.
As a member of the Northwest Suburban United Way (NWSUW) Financial Stability Investment Committee (FSIC), Anderson as helped to compile an investment plan, which outlines where, under Financial Stability, NWSUW Way should direct their funding.
Anderson has also helped in reviewing applications for funding, allowing him to get a better understanding of the needs and services in the community. Now, in the final phase of the application process, Anderson is attending the majority of site reviews. Through this process Anderson is showing a true dedication to his community ensuring that the money raised is going where it will do the most good.
“Volunteers like Scott are what truly make United Way a community organization,” says Marcia McMahon, Chief Professional Officer Northwest Suburban United Way. “Without the dedication of the people in the community who give, advocate and volunteer United Way would not be able to make such a great impact in the community.”
Anderson has taken it upon himself to ensure that his neighbors are able to receive the services they need to become self sufficient as well as ensuring that the money he and his co-workers contribute is being allocated where it will do the most good.
Anyone can be a United Way Volunteer of the Month, it can be a school crossing guard making sure children get safely to school not mater what the weather or the president of the local non-profit helping people lead a better life.
