Welcome to United Way of Metropolitan Chicago’s RFI training video! This section explains the goals of this video as well as how to navigate online training. After viewing this section, you will know how to use the video and attached documents to prepare you to complete the Health and Wellness Request for Information (RFI).

This section provides an overview of the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago (UWMC). You will learn about our mission, our strategic approach of impact funding, advocacy initiatives around the sector, and how our regional system is organized.

Section 4: United Way’s Competitive Funding Model
This video segment will explain United Way of Metropolitan Chicago’s competitive funding model. This section is vital to understanding the way that proposals are reviewed throughout the region in a fair and consistent process. Current and potentially new funding partners should be aware of shared regional expectations, limited available funds, and consistent deadlines.

Section 5: Community Impact
United Way of Metropolitan Chicago is committed to create the most comprehensive community impact with available dollars through our investments in community programs. UWMC seeks to fund programs that are designed to reduce the systemic barriers that inhibit our community’s health and wellness. This section provides a critical working definition of community impact and illustrates examples of the community level change that UWMC may support through program funding. Also included is an explanation of program partners and how these partners contribute to larger community impact.

Section 6: Health and Wellness Issue Area: Community Impact Plan
The Community Impact Plan for Health and Wellness provides key insight into the strategic direction of this funding pool. A comprehensive understanding of this section is essential to complete a quality RFI and application (if applicable). This section provides guidance on how to get information about UWMC funding priorities, regional guidelines for funding requests, working definitions of key terms in the application process, and how to access additional information.

Section 7: Health and Wellness Issue Area: Measurement Framework
This section explains the mandatory data collection requirements for all funded programs in the Health and Wellness issue area. A discussion of the goals of UWMC’s measurement framework in standardizing shared measurement expectations to communicate community impact is provided.

This section will provide you with information for accessing the CTK walk-through and the specific RFI components.

Section 9: Getting Help
There are a variety of ways to receive information necessary to complete the RFI. Utilize the web trainings as much as necessary to complete an understanding of UWMC expectations and functional information about the nuts and bolts of applying at this first stage of the process. Also helpful is the actual training manual, attached online. There will be a very limited number of live trainings provided throughout the region the week of October 5. The dates and locations are included. Attendance at these trainings is not required. All information provided at these trainings is included in the video segments and attached documents. Please make sure to RSVP to the email provided as capacity limitations exist and we anticipate a full house at each training.

Section 10: Frequently Asked Questions
This section provides answers for questions that we anticipate throughout the application process. UWMC will post timely FAQs during the process in CTK as they arise in the bulletin. The bulletin is the blue posting on your “My ODM” homepage that appears immediately upon logging in. A link to “My ODM” is on the left navigation bar as well.
