Coordinator, Volunteer Experience

The United Way of Metropolitan Chicago is seeking to hire a Coordinator, Volunteer Experience to assist the Director of the Skills-Based Volunteer Program. United Way of Metropolitan Chicago’s Volunteer Center mobilizes and inspires people to volunteer by connecting them to service opportunities that make a meaningful impact in our community. The Coordinator, Volunteer Experience will assist with administering the Chicago Career Tech Service Learning Initiative – a partnership between United Way and World Business Chicago. The primary role of the Coordinator will be to work with Service Learning participants to monitor the quality of the placement, coordinate completion of the service learning experience and assist with tracking the Service Learning Volunteer progress and program outcomes.

Requireemnts: Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university or equivalent of education and experience are preferred. The ideal candidate will have 2 years experience managing volunteers and/or staff. Customer service and communications skills, full proficiency and experience in latest version of Microsoft Office Environment (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and experience in general database concepts and use are essential.

Director, Skills-Based Volunteer Program

United Way of Metropolitan Chicago is seeking to hire a Director, Skills-Based Volunteer Program to administer the Chicago Career Tech Service Learning Initiative – a partnership of United Way of Metropolitan Chicago and World Business Chicago. United Way’s Volunteer Center mobilizes and inspires people to volunteer by connecting them to service opportunities that make a meaningful impact in our community. The primary role of the Director will be to place currently unemployed technology professionals in service learning opportunities at nonprofit host sites. The Director will work with each Career Tech Service Learning participant to identify a service learning experience that meets each participant’s interests and skill set and will place the individual in that assignment. The Director will be responsible for coordinating information with both the Chicago Career Tech staff and the placement firm, as well as United Way. He/She will supervise a volunteer coordinator who will assist with program implementation.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university or equivalent of education and experience. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, staff and or volunteer management and recruitment experience as well as an understanding of the nonprofit sector in Chicago. He/She must have three-five years experience in volunteer management and/or nonprofit management.

Project Manager – Operations

United Way of Metropolitan Chicago seeks an experienced technology savvy professional who has a demonstrated ability to work in a very fast paced environment. The Project Manager – Operations will be responsible for enhancing the Operations team’s ability to market and support electronic campaign pledging strategies while providing internal reporting and systems support. The Project manager will lead the efforts to manage work across the organization.

Requirements: Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with proven ability to work in an environment with a high degree of customer interaction while executing diverse daily tasks. Extreme attention to detail with a high level of accuracy is a must. The ideal candidate will be proficient and experienced in a job environment with HTML or similar programming. S/he will be an expert in the Microsoft Office Environment (Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Bachelor’s degree or AAS in Computer Science/Technical field or a minimum 5 years of experience in a related field is required. Having at least two years experience as a Business Analyst/Data Manager or similar function is preferred.

Specialist, Media and Community Relations

United Way of Metropolitan Chicago seeks an experienced professional who will be responsible for assisting the Director of Media and Community Relations with external communications including a comprehensive media relations and community outreach program. The Specialist, Media and Community Relations will be accountable for coordinating and preparing materials and logistics for public relations events including press conferences, rallies, interviews, community forums, etc. This position will also require a strong understanding of the Latino community to build relationships with local Hispanic media and community groups.
