The South-Southwest Suburban United Way is looking for sponsors for its Get Down 4 The Common Good performing arts showcase of talented Southland community teens March 28, 2010 at the agency, 4711 Midlothian Turnpike, Suite 17, Crestwood, Illinois.
The event will benefit college scholarships, youth empowerment programs and United Club’s Youth Venture grants awarded to teens making a difference in their communities.
Sponsorships are $5,000, and sponsors’ names will be included in all media press releases, on-air PSAs, marketing materials distributed to schools and studios in 56 communities, and on the local United Way Web site and social networking sites – among other perks.

United Way is calling on people in metropolitan Chicago to join together in a small way to make a big difference for families in crisis. The organization is reaching out to caring people to give just $5 to help—and to tell five of their friends to do the same.
At the stroke of midnight Wednesday, time runs out on 2008 — and on thousands of nonprofits scrambling to stay afloat.
That means we have just two days left to give.
This year, the annual December pleas are especially plaintive.
Demand for food, shelter and other basics is unrelenting while our ability to give has taken a hit.
This page has heard from several groups ticking off unprecedented needs and diminished donations.
Catholic Charities, the United Way, the Greater Chicago Food Depository all are asking for help. Monday’s paper highlighted yet another struggling charity, the Salvation Army, which says donations are down 20 percent this year.
Thanks to the generosity of Jewel-Osco, JCPenny of Lombard and many individual donors, United Way of Metropolitan Chicago was able to brighten the holidays of 75 families in its network of services on December 19. Long-time United Way partner corporation Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company hosted a networking event for the United Way Tocqueville Society on October 28 at its Global Innovation Center. The event, in the building’s atrium overlooking the Chicago River, featured a reception and program for about 40 Society Members and their guests, who gathered to hear from Deb DeHaas, vice chair & regional managing partner for Deloitte LLP, Bill Perez, former Wrigley CEO and Pam Tully, United Way executive vice president of Resource Development.
