United Way of Metropolitan Chicago: A 75-Year History
Born in 1932 out of the Chicago business community’s concern for their fellow citizens during the Depression, United Way of Metropolitan Chicago has linked together communities to create lasting change for 75 years. We work to advance the common good by focusing on financial stability, access to healthcare and educational assistance. From the Chicago Association of Commerce resolution to create a funding mechanism to aid the hungry and unemployed in Chicago, to our efforts today to rejuvenate communities through giving, advocating and volunteering, United Way is creating ways for people to make a difference.
