United Way does much more than fund the best programs. Today's community issues are increasingly complex and cannot be solved by any one program alone. In addition to funding a network of effective agency programs, United Way also plays a leadership role in convening key players to work together on the toughest problems.
African American Initiative. This exciting program supports community-wide efforts to nurture young, at-risk African American boys as they develop into successful young men.
Latino Initiative. The new United Way Latino Initiative will help our Latino youth bridge two cultures and become successful adults.
Immunization Initiative. This nationally-recognized program is getting kids in underserved communities the immunizations they need to stay healthy.
Crisis Recovery. When 7,000 Hurricane evacuees relocated to Chicagoland, United Way coordinated a response effort that has since been heralded as an international model in crisis response.
Suburban Venture Investment. The population of limited-English-speaking residents in the suburbs has grown dramatically in recent years and United Way is equipping agencies to respond.
