The Chicago Community Trust Steps up to GIVE5HERE with $500,000 Challenge Grant

Want to help families in crisis? United Way created “Give5Here” to do just that—provide more resources to prevent homelessness, assist seniors, build skills for jobs and more. And now, The Chicago Community Trust has stepped up to “Give5” in a big way with a grant that matches dollar-for-dollar every donation up to $500,000. Now, those who want to help people with immediate needs can double their gift through the Chicago Community Trust grant.

Volunteers Say and Do Nothing for a Good Cause

On February 2, in 26-degree weather, more than 65 United Way volunteers shed their coats, standing silently in the cold at Daley Plaza for 120 seconds so that families in crisis could have a hot meal and warm bed. The group was part of the first-ever United Way of Metropolitan Chicago Flash Mob, organized to bring awareness to the growing need for crisis intervention in the region.
