Young Leaders Society
Connect with your community. Invest in what matters.
In today's fast-paced world, creating work-life balance can be a constant struggle. The United Way Young Leaders Society provides an easy yet powerful way for young professionals to re-connect with their community, meet new people and make a meaningful impact on the lives of others.
Through the Young Leaders Society, our community's next generation of leaders:
- Stay informed of community issues at workshops and educational events
- Engage in large-group volunteer projects across the region to address community issues
- Expand leadership skills through interaction with established community leaders and participation on United Way committees
- Enjoy social activities and networking with others who believe in giving back and civic engagement.
Who's involved?
The United Way Young Leaders Society is comprised of more than 500 of our region's most dynamic young professionals who are determined to do great things at work and in the community. These caring men and women come from a range of industries representing non-profit and for-profit organizations across the region. They share a common desire to stay connected and make positive changes in their community.
What does the Young Leaders Society do?
Throughout the year, Young Leaders have the opportunity to participate in a range of organized activities that keep them informed and involved in community issues and events:
Networking Events.
These after-work gatherings take place on weekday evenings and are held at trendy Chicago venues. Attendees enjoy cocktails and appetizers while networking with fellow Young Leaders. Each event also features a brief program about community issues that United Way helps to address.
Educational Events.
For members who are interested in learning more about community issues, these events include time for networking followed by an issue-based panel discussion with experts and other key community stakeholders.
Service Projects.
Throughout the year, Young Leaders participate in a number of large-group volunteer projects (known as "Days of Caring") at our partner programs across the region. From painting or landscaping to wrapping holiday gifts or mentoring youth, these fun and inspiring projects give members the opportunity to work with agencies that serve Metropolitan Chicago, and help create a stronger, more connected community.
How do I become a member?
